Goal and Vision:
“My hope is that the Belleair Community Foundation will bring residents together to make our community a place of happiness, health and good living. I view Belleair as the jewel of Pinellas County and West Coast of Florida. We want to maintain its radiant sparkle.”
Karla Rettstatt, President
A resident of Belleair since 1993, Karla and her husband Larry Hineman have been active members in the community while raising their son Spenser. Karla served on the Planning and Zoning Board, and Historic Preservation Board. She also served on the Recreation Board where she spearheaded the building of the Dimmitt Community Center one of the highlights of the town. She served a 4- year term as a Town of Belleair Commissioner and then retired to take in and care for her aging parents. It was this time with her parents that the idea of Hunter Memorial Park began. Her father, a retired Army officer sat down over coffee and came up with the basic design. Since the park needed funding from private sources, The Belleair Community Foundation was born. The foundation gives her a sense of pride and belonging to a wonderful community. At the urging of her father and other community leaders, Karla again ran for a seat on the Belleair Town Commission. She was re-elected to the Commission in 2015 and currently serves as the Deputy Mayor of Belleair as well.
Karla is a graduate from the University of South Florida Business College and was an area sales manager for Kraft Foods for 21 years. Her and her husband were in the restaurant business for 16 years and she also founded Wonders Foundation, Inc., a small local charity that helps children and families in need. Along with great friends, she started Gracie’s Big Splash which now helps children and families with life threatening illness.
